Beauty Facial Masks - Natural Remedies

Facial Masks

The skin is by far the largest organ of the human body. It is extremely sensitive to external factors, such as ultraviolet radiation, dirt and cold weather, as well as to emotional influences like stress. All these conditions have adverse effects on the skin. The good news is that most problems can be prevented by proper maintenance and care. The skin produces millions of new cells a day, regenerating itself completely within 30 to 40 days, depending on the person’s age. Around the age of 35, however, the skin’s natural rejuvenating processes begin to slow considerably. At this time, the skin can greatly benefit from a facial mask.

There are two basic types of masks:
Relaxing
Relaxing masks moisturize the skin and refresh the complexion
Stimulating
stimulating masks promote blood flow and smooth and firm the skin.
Before applying a mask, cleanse the skin with a facial toner that contains lemon balm or witch hazel.

THE PROPER APPLICATION

begin by covering the chin area with the mask. Then move up to the cheeks and four head. Apply it to the nose. Next, moving outward toward the cheeks. Always lease space around the mouth, eyes and eyebrows. Lastly, spread it on the throat, moving from the bottom up to the top.

Treat yourself to a facial mask once or twice a week. Apply a stimulating mask before going out or a relaxing mask at bedtime, and leave it on for 20 minutes. Always use fresh ingredients. You can prepare the mask on demand or in advance and keep it refrigerated.

TYPES OF FACIAL MASKS

STRAWBERRY MASK

You will need:
4 to 5 very ripe, medium-sized strawberries
2 teaspoons of heavy cream
1 teaspoon of honey

Carefully rinse strawberries in lukewarm water, and dry with a clean cloth or towel.
In a small bowl, mash the fruit with a fork.
Add the cream and honey, and mix well.
Apply the paste generously to the face and throat, keeping it away from the eyes.
Leave the mask on for 20 to 30 minutes.

Contraindications: people with sensitive or sunburned skin could have an adverse reaction to strawberries. Test on a small area first to assess your skin’s reaction.

WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR MASK.

You will need:
1 quart of water
4 teaspoons dried or eighth teaspoons fresh rose petals
appeals from 1 to 2 organic oranges
2 to 3 tablespoons of milk
2 tablespoons of rose water
2 teaspoons of honey
4 tablespoons whole wheat flour
boil the water and remove from the heat.

Add the rose petals and orange peel, cover, and allow to steep until Luke warm or cool.
In a separate pan, heat the milk, floral water and honey; remove from the heat. Add the flour and whisk into a sick paste.
Apply the warm paste uniformly to the face and neck. Leave on for 15 to 20 minutes.
Carefully wash off the dried mask with the fragrant rose – orange water. Pat dry.
Apply your favorite moisturizing cream to the skin.

What are the Benefits of the Ingredients in these masks?

Strawberries stimulate the skin.

Strawberries are an invaluable addition to a stimulating facial mask. They are rich in vitamin C, which perks up tired skin- giving it a fresh, healthy look. They also contain sulfur, which has cleansing and anti-inflammatory properties that help to remove impurities from the skin surface and reduce redness and swelling. Strawberries gently refresh and exfoliate the skin via natural fruit acids and enzymes, producing a radiant complexion.

Honey relaxes the skin.

Because of its antibacterial action, honey is often used in cosmetics, helping to disinfect and heal minor blemishes. Rich in natural sugars, enzymes, and acids, honey is effective against inflamed and swollen skin, renewing it and promoting healing. It can also fresh and dry, stress and sensitive skin.

Whole wheat flour protects and renews skin.

Fresh, whole wheat flour contains vitamin D, and antioxidant that binds environmental toxins, promotes cell respiration, stimulates the production of anti-inflammatory compounds and slows the aging process of the skin. It is also been suggested that the vitamin may help to lower the risk of skin cancer. It is not surprising, then, that many suntan lotions and after some products contain vitamin E. Facial masks containing flour made from whole we can likewise help to protect and renew the skin. Whole wheat flour, which contains extra fiber, may provide additional exfoliating benefits, sloughing off dead skin cells.

TIP OF THE TRADE
Try to use soft or distilled water when preparing facial masks. Hard water contains high concentrations of minerals and other substances that may provoke an allergic reaction. If you use tap water, boiling or filtering is also a good idea.

How many people are using Holistic Medicine? Why Go Natural?

World Facts on the Use of Holistic Medicine

The World Health Organization estimates 65 - 80 percent of the population use holistic medicine as a primary form of health care.

Baby boomers are voicing their concerns about better health, more than prior generations. However, many do not know where to find information and options, other than Traditional Western Medicine (TWM).

If everyone knew they could prevent any disease with plant extracts, medicinal herbs, natural vitamins, minerals, and supplements, as well as having peace of mind-the pharmaceutical and medical industry would collapse overnight.

Holistic, Metaphysical, Energy or Mind, Body, Spirit healing has existed since the beginning of time amid religious beliefs and practices, along with the mystery, superstition, fear, and misunderstanding. Holistic Healing is now becoming recognized regardless of what anyone chooses to believe or think.

According to CNN one-half of all medical schools now offer courses in holistic health care.

Almost one-third of American medical schools-among them Harvard, Yale, John's Hopkins, and Georgetown Universities-now offer coursework in holistic methods. There are five homeopathic hospitals in Great British National Service.  One out of three drugs prescribed in Germany is an herb.

The World Health Organization estimates that between 65 to 80 percent of the world's population (about 3 billion people) rely on holistic medicine as their primary form of health care.

In 1993, American consumers spent almost $1.5 billion dollars on herbal remedies-ten times more than was spent on over-the-counter sleeping pills from grocery stores and drug stores.

Approximately $22 million of U.S. government money has already been spent on alternative medical research since 1992 at the National Institutes of Health and Public Health Services.

The American Medical Association (AMA), in Resolution #514, "is encouraging its members to become better in-formed regarding holistic medicine and to participate in appropriate studies of it.

Mutual of Omaha says it saves about $6.50 in covering non-standard (holistic) treatments.

One out of every ten Americans are under the care of a chiropractor.

In 1991, Americans made more visits to unconventional health care providers (425 million) than to conventional doctors (388 million).

One out of three Americans were using unconventional medicine in 1991.

Americans spent almost $13.7 billion on unconventional health care in 1991.

75 percent of that $13.7 billion (above) was out of pocket.

12 percent of Fortune 500 companies offer alternative medicine as part of their health care compensation packages. That percentage was expected to increase to 18 percent by the end of 1996.

National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) A nationwide government survey of more than 31,000 adults on their use of complimentary and alternative medicine (CAM) showed that 36 percent of U.S. adults use some form of CAM.

The World Health Organization, estimates that between 65 to 80 percent of the world's population (about 3 billion people) rely on Holistic or Homeopathic Medicine as their primary form of health care.

Worldwide, only 10 to 30 percent of people use traditional medicine, 70 to 90 percent use holistic and homeopathic health care.

74 percent of the American population desires a natural approach to health care.

Of the one out of three Americans who say they have used natural techniques, 84 percent said they would use it again.

Traditional Chinese Medicine has been chosen by the World Health Organization for worldwide propagation to meet the health care needs of the twenty-first century.

"Americans make more visits to holistic health care providers (some 600 million a year) than to M.D.s and spend more money out-of-pocket to do so about $30 billion a year by recent estimates." Newsweek, 12/2002

"A recent study performed by the American Massage Therapy Association revealed that 28 percent of people received a massage from a massage therapist in the past five years, up from 17 percent in 1997. Eighteen percent said they had a massage in the past 12 months. That's 10 percent higher than was reported in 1997." American Massage Therapy Association, 8/2002.

Protect Your Skin From The Weather...Naturally!

The skin on your face, throat and hands is very sensitive and can be damaged when constantly exposed to the wind, the sun, pollution and extreme temperature changes.

These environmental factors make the skin dry, prone to cracks and broken capillaries., Fortunately, you can make protective cosmetic creams to help shield your skin; the creams help to maintain the acid mantle, which is the acidic, protective coating that guards the skin against irritation and bacterial growth, If you skin type is normal, protect it from the elements with an OIL BASED CREAM (see recipes below). However, if you have dry skin, protect it against further wind and sun damage with a hydration, WATER BASED Emulsion. (recipe below)

2 tbsp sweet almond oil
2 tbsp jojoba
1 1/2 tsp beeswax
10 drops of either German-Chamomile, Calendula, or carrot seed oil (choose one)

Heat the sweet almond oil, jojoba and beeswax in a double boiler. Just until the beeswax is melted. Mix well. Add the final essential oil then pour the mixture into a 2 oz cosmetic jar. the cream can be stored for up to 1 yr in a cool dry place.

Water Based Cream
1 tbsp grape-seed oil
1 tbsp jojoba oil
1 tsp beeswax
2 tsp rose water
1/4 tsp borax
heat the oils and beeswax in a double boiler just until the beeswax is meter. In a separate saucepan or pot, heat the rose water then stir in the borax until it is dissolved, When the oil mixture and water mixture are the same temperature, whisk the water mixture into the oil, Store the cream in a 2 oz jar for up to 1 month in a cool place. or refrigerate.

You can adapt lotions for your skin type using the following recipes which are made for 2 oz creams

NORMAL SKIN
10 drops vitamin A oil
10 drops vitamin E oil
5 drops orange essential oil

DRY SKIN
10 drops Calendula oil
15 drops Aloe Vera concentrate

What is Angel Art Therapy? (Angel Art Readings by Lifeshare University of Healing

Do you feel like something is blocking you from moving forward? Not sure about your current career or relationship? Do you feel there are obstacles holding you back but don’t know where to look? Do you feel stuck?
What is Angel Art?
Angel Art Therapy is the process of receiving intuitive messages from the angels and spirit that help guide us towards our purpose in life. Divine Spiritual Messages are received through images, pictures, symbols and numbers, then channeled into a beautiful piece of artwork sent directly from the Angels.

Angel Art Therapy can be completed in three different ways.

1. With a photograph of the person being read along with their Birth Name and Date of Birth (distant reading)
2.  In person or through a brief prior meeting between Lisa Muria and the person being read.
3. Group Readings

You do not need to be present during Angel Art Therapy. They are completed through energy transferred between the Reader and the Client's Angels and Spirit Guides.

Q: Will Angels tell me exactly what I want to know about my life?
A: Not always. Sometimes, we want to know something about our life, but emotionally we are not ready to hear them. Angels would never do anything to hurt or upset us.
Angel Art brings us the messages we NEED the most at that specific time in our lives. There are other mediums that can be used to target specific questions such as Tarot Cards.

Q: Why won't the angels tell me exactly what I want to know?

A: Because Spirit knows exactly what we need, when we need it and how we will best receive and understand the messages they bring to us. They want what is best for you at that specific time in your life.

Q: Will I hear something bad or negative? Will the angels tell me someone close to me is going to pass away?A: ABSOLUTELY NOT!
Negative messages are NEVER received through Angel Art. Angels are pure spiritual beings that are full of Divine Love. They would never do or say anything to upset you or hurt you.

The angels send us messages to help us grow and prosper by bringing awareness to what could be hindering us from moving forward as well as removing what may be blocking us.

Angels are with us at all times, always protecting and guiding us. We just need to listen to the messages and watch for the signs that they send us so we can live a healthier and happier life! 0:-)

I recommend that someone receive angel art drawings every 2 months for the fact that we are always creating change in our lives by the choices that we make. When we create change in our lives, our path changes as will the angelic guidance.

Understanding Tarot Symbols - Tarot Reading Mini Blog Course Part 4

READING TAROT CARDSTarot cards connect to our inner selves. They're rich images speak to our subconscious, triggering emotions and feelings hidden deep within us.

When you see tarot cards for the first time, you'll probably wonder how such small cards can contain so much information. How do tarot readers remember everything – especially when many cards look virtually the same?

TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS.
The images on tarot cards act as visual clues to their meanings. The key to reading tarot is not learning the meanings for all 78 cards, but "feeling" your way through what each card says to you at that specific time. When you first see a tarot card, take a minute to look at it closely. What do you think it is telling you? Your first gas may be closer to the true meaning than you think!

Look at the images on tarot cards. Whether people they show are happy or sad, or the sky is sunny or cloudy, can give you instant insight into the messages. The cards have for you.

DIFFERENT DECKS, SAME MEANING.
If you have seen tarot decks for, or even have a set of cards are ready, you may notice that they come in many different styles. Images from one deck can seem to have little in common with those from another. The answers are in the detail. Look at the cards more closely, however, and you'll find more similarities than are initially apparent. Every deck contains the same 78 cards, and once you fully understand tarot, you'll be able to read any deck – not just the one you learned with.

For example, the hermit may be an old monk or young shaman, but is always a spiritual figure who carries a lamp – signifying the light of his individuality, shining out.
Learn to understand how each image is designed rather than memorizi
ng specific pictures and you'll find that reading your cards comes quickly and easily.

THE MEANING OF TAROT SYMBOLS.
Note image on a tarot card has been placed there by accident. Every symbol, including letters and numbers, is telling you something special.
Numbers
Most tarot cards have a number as well, simply as a guide to the cards. Placed in a sequence, these numbers have magical significance of their own.
The Elements

Earth, air, fire and water feature prominently in many tarot cards, as does the weather. All of these have their own symbolic meanings.
Objects
Tarot cards often contain objects such as cups or swords. These have specific meanings that we will explain to you and a future blog posts.
Actions
People on tarot cards are rarely standing still. Their actions also give you clues to the cards meaning – is the person coming or going, laughing or crying, working hard, or resting?
Expressions
The People's expressions are another clue. If they are surrounded by wealth do they look happy, smug, or bored? Are they hoarding money or sharing it?

Main Picture
The image that takes up most of the tarot card is where much of the symbolism can be found, but it may be hidden deep in the background detail.

Words

Some tarot cards at the name of the card written on them. This is really just to help you remember which card is, although obviously terms such as "hermit" or "the lovers" immediately conjures up the source of meanings of the cards in our minds!
People

Many tarot cards contain images of people. This can give you clues as to the kind of people who will influence your life. A mature woman may represent a mother or a teacher. A traveler and foreign close may mean a visitor is about to call.

READING MINOR ARCANA CARDS.
Not all tarot cards carry as many visual clues as others. On some, the meanings are hidden – allowing the tarot reader to hold "secret" knowledge that only they can reveal. This is most apparent in traditional decks, in which 56 of the 78 cards resemble a pack of playing cards, comprising four "suits" – cups (hearts), swords (spades), wands (clubs) and pentacles (diamonds). These cards are known as the minor Arcana.

SECRET KNOWLEDGETo decipher the meaning of these cards the reader needs to know the magical symbolism of the objects, and also a little about the magical power of numbers.
There are no obvious visual clues.

In the early 20th century, artists, Pamela Coleman Smith Incorporated the minor Arcana symbols into elaborate pictures – more like the major Arcana cards. These visual clues, first used on the Rider-Waite Deck, made carry it easier for less experienced readers.

Take your time, relax and meditate before reading your cards, and you will do great. It takes time to learning everything so be patient with yourself.

Discovering the Magic of Tarot Cards-Tarot Card Mini-Blog Course Part 3

Tarot is the ancient art of laying out in interpreting illustrated cards to gain insights into your past, present and future.

We all like the idea of being able to see into the future, so that we can foresee obstacles in our past. Tarot cards have been used for centuries as a way of granting us such insights: think of the cards as a conduit, and a Tarot Reader as a magical counselor uses them to focus and enhance their intuition.

THE ANSWER IS WITHIN YOU
Tarot works because when you ask a question, the answer to your problem is already present in your subconscious mind. Concentrating on the question brings that knowledge to the surface, and draws you to choose certain cards.
It forces you to confront negatives you may usually choose to ignore, and put apparently positive aspects in context, helping reveal the bigger picture. Through understanding tarot, you will gain a better understanding of yourself and the world around you.

CHANNELING ENERGY WITH TAROT
Some people believe that the insights "seen" during a tarot reading are communicated psychically through your subconscious, while others believe that spirits act as interpreters.

Some tarot readers prefer not to let anyone else handle their cards.

PSYCHIC FOCUS

Whichever school of thought you choose to follow, tarot cards act to focus and direct your psychic abilities. The stronger the connection you feel to your decks, the more easily these messages will pass. Consequently, you may like to spend a few minutes meditating as you hold your cards, bonding them to your personal energies and opening your mind to the intuitive messages you received.

HOW TO USE TAROT CARDS

You can give the simple tarot reading based on just one card. Simply spread the pack and pick one at random, as you would from a deck of playing cards.

The single car you pick will give you a "snapshot" of your current situation, suggesting through the images where the core of the problem is down to emotional issues (cups), intellectual concerns (swords), energy and activity (wands) or health and wealth (pentacles).

If you don't have your own tarot deck, you can carry out a single card reading by closing your eyes and randomly selecting a card. You will not be able to get a detailed understanding of all the issues involved, but it may help highlight what you need to concentrate on.

Tarot is a wonderful tool for understanding your true feelings and motivations, because it reveals what is usually in your subconscious mind. Doing tarot readings for yourself or a friend can help you to see the most effective way of dealing with a situation, and even what that situation could lead to in the future.

You can also use tarot to answer questions – provided they are clearly stated – to identify obstacles that might be in your way, or draw attention to benefits that can be gained.

DON'T BE A FOOL....ACT RESPONSIBLY
Tarot cannot sort out your life for you. However, it can give you helpful advice and be used as a tool for gaining insight, but should not be used as a crutch that encourages you to abstain from taking responsibility for yourself and your actions.

A Simple 10 Minute Destress Plan-Remove Stress from your Life Starting Today!

YOUR SIMPLE 10 – MINUTE DE-STRESS PLAN.

Stress is hard to avoid in the fast moving modern world, but there are many ways to deal with it. One of the most important rules is to make sure you don't let small stresses build up into something much more serious. Always ensure that you take a 10 minute break between one stressful task and the next-at home, work, or even in your spare time. This will give your mind and body a chance to unwind before you launch into the next potential cost of stress buildup.

TAKE 10
If you are feeling really frazzled, try the simple 10 minute stress relieving exercise included in this article. You can do it anywhere, at any time-on the crowd a trip home, at your workplace, or even in line at the supermarket checkout counter. You will be amazed at how quickly the step-by-step plan helps you feel better.

PREPARING TO DE-STRESS.
Before you start your de-stress exercise, find a suitable area and try to distract your mind from the stresses around you.

FRESH AIR.
If you can, go outside and find a quiet spot in the fresh air. If you can't, just opening a window will make a difference, even on a bus or train. Closing your eyes and thinking of a calm beach can ease stress.

AROMATHERAPY
Flowers with strong sense, such as Geranium and Lavender are good for easing anxiety; placed a potted plant on your desk or windowsill and let the breeze from outside send its scent around the room. You can also place a few drops of essential oil on a tissue helps you to breathe in the scent and relax.

SOOTHING SOUNDS.
Listen to soothing music through headphones will help too - or just imagine the melodic music in your mind. The gentle sounds of the sea or gentle instrumental music with no words are best for relaxing.

BREATHING EXERCISE

        1. GENTLE BREATHING (1 MINUTE)

Sit comfortably on a chair, with your back straight and both feet on the grounds. If         you can't sit down,             stand as straight as possible without slouching or leaning         against anything. Close your eyes and focus             on your breathing. Try to let thoughts pass by, rather than pondering on them or daydreaming.

        2. TENSE AND RELAX (4 MINUTES)

Make a fist with your right hand and tense all the muscles in your forearm. Hold the tension for five seconds and then relax your muscles for about 10 seconds. Now do the same thing for each part of your body. Tighten each group of muscles, hold the tension and then relax fully.

    3. VISUALIZE (3 MINUTES)

Next, try to recall a place or time where you felt content and relaxed. Use your imagination to reconstruct the place and how you felt when you were there. It might have been a beach vacation or mountains where you went hiking. Let yourself become fully engaged in the scene.

    4. LET GO (1 MINUTE)

Once your mind and body are completely relaxed, let go of your stress. Visualize a stream of light or energy pouring through your body and washing away your stress, or imagine the stress leaving your body with each out breath. Picture yourself getting through the rest of the day without stress by trying to anticipate any potentially difficult situations. Thinking about how you can get through them calmly will help you tp put this into practice.

    5. STRETCH (1 MINUTE)
Keep your eyes closed and breathe in and out deeply. Enjoy the feeling of relaxation and rest. Move your fingers and toes playfully. Then breathe in and stretch your arms up over your head. Stretch your legs out in front of you. Now open your eyes.

    PRACTICE RELAXING

The more often you do this 10-minute stress-relief plan, the better and easier it will become. You will be surprised at how relaxed and confident you begin to feel, and how the challenging parts of your life no longer feel so stressful.

What is Kefir and How does Kefir help the body?

What is Kefir?

Kefir is a fermented milk product similar to yogurt, which originated in Russia. This tangy, creamy milk product is sometimes referred to as the “champagne of milk” because of its fizzy effervescence. The natural carbonation gives Kefir a light, foam, creamy texture, even when made with low fat milk.

Kefir is made from milk that has been gently heated to eliminate possibly pathogenic bacteria. Next, a specific mixture of bacteria and yeast cultures are added to the milk to begin fermentation. The unique mixture of bacteria and yeast give kefir its distinct flavor and texture. The starter cultures for kefir are often referred to as “kefir grains” as they look like small, lumpy, granules, similar in appearance to cauliflower.

The bacteria Lactobacilus caucasius ferments lactose in the milk into lactic acid, which provides a tangy flavor. Saccharomyces kefir and Torula kefir, two yeasts used to make kefir, ferment lactose into a small amount of alcohol and carbon dioxide, which is responsible for the carbonation.

Yogurt vs. Kefir Yogurt and Kefir differ based on the type of cultures used to ferment the milk. Yogurt uses only bacteria, primarily lactobacillus species, while Kefir uses both bacteria and yeast. Although yogurt can range in texture from a thick liquid to a semi solid, gel-like consistency, Kefir is primarily liquid.

Kefir Varieties There are many recipes for Kefir, which differ based on the specific bacteria and yeast used to ferment the milk and the type of milk used. In European countries, Kefir is often made from goat, cow, or even camel’s milk. Most Kefir sold in the United States is made from cow’s milk.

Kefir is available plain, which has a bright, tart flavor. To make it more palatable, many companies sweeten the kefir and add flavors like fruit or vanilla. Flavored kefir is closer in flavor to yogurt and may be more easily accepted by those who are new to kefir.

Kefir can also be made with non-dairy milks, such as almond or soy. These non-dairy kefirs are made using the same bacterial and yeast cultures, and offer the same probiotic benefits, making them an excellent alternative for vegan consumers.

How is Kefir Used? Kefir is most often consumed as a cold beverage. Most people consume Kefir because of its enjoyable flavor and texture, but some feel it aids in digestion and calming an upset stomach. Kefir can also be mixed into smoothies, poured over cereal or granola, or used in baked goods.

Purchasing and Storing Kefir Kefir can be found in most health or natural food stores in the refrigerated dairy section. You can also purchase Kefir right in Shop-Rite in the Yogurt section! the European markets may also carry Kefir.

Kefir making kits can also be found in specialty stores or online. These kits provide the Kefir culture “grains” and instructions on how to safely ferment your milk.

Because Kefir is a fresh product with live cultures, it should be kept refrigerated. After opening Kefir, it should be consumed within five to seven days.
