how to let go of the past and trust people that have hurt you

Trust is a natural instinct we are born with....

I have 4 cats and every morning I feed them their meaty breakfast of canned food. They get so excited as they follow me from the place where I keep their canned food all the way to their bowls as they trip me along the way.

 When my youngest and smallest cat named Sugar was a kitten, the older cats would push her away from her bowl and eat her food. Sugar eats much slower than the others, so she likes when I put her bowl right beside me as I keep my one hand on her back. She is so much calmer as she eats and is able to enjoy her breakfast without worrying if another cat is coming to steal her food.

I have a three level cat tree that is placed between a glass door and a window. So whoever gets done eating first gets the top seat which they are able to get a full perspective of both views. After they are finished, Sugar will either sit there and guard her bowl or go the top seat on the kitty tree.

If she leaves her bowl unguarded, she will get the top seat. If she stays and guards her bowl, then she loses the best view of the outside world.









TRUST IS A NATURAL INSTINCT WE ARE BORN WITH

The point to my story is that trust is a natural instinct we are born with. We are born fully trusting the world. We trust that our parents will take care of us while our survival needs will be provided for. We do not come out telling the doctor or our parents, "Put me back or I will never trust you after this experience!" lol

As our lives move forward, experiences happens and we are conditioned  to mistrust people or places by society, family, relationships or friends.  

We experience betrayal, unfaithfulness and other negative emotions that cause layers of "Shmegma" to be layered upon the trusting souls we were born with.

How do we start trusting again?

What happens when we experience betrayal our brains go into protection mode. When we subconsciously see that the same experience could possibly happen again, our brain says,
"Hell No! Do you remember when this happened with so and so? Do you want that to happen
again?"
and BAM! protection mode is set autonomically in our brains without us even realizing it!

Just like Sugar, when she was a kitten, her food was "stolen". Now, as an adult cat, she feels the need to protect her bowl from the older cats. It was set in her brain that if she leaves her bowl, her food will be taken. Well the same goes with the human experience.

What we have to do is reset those pathways in our fight or flight system that tell us that we MUST protect ourselves from specific situations.

When we stay in our "comfort zone" and continue to feel safe by guarding our "bowls", we are unable to climb to the top of our own tree, our life tree.

But when we let go of the past and stop guarding, we are able to climb to our highest potential and sit at the very top so we can see the world from many different perspectives. We are able to see the world with a whole new view.

How Does Setting Goals Help Organize Your Thoughts?

Why set goals?

Setting goals helps us organize our thoughts so we make the most of the time we spend on our tasks. Setting goals is like having a map. It helps us see where we are and what we need to do to get where we want to be in life.

When we set goals, We begin to see that we do have the ability to do the things we need to do....we are able to track our accomplishments and reward ourselves for those accomplishments.

It gives us self esteem and raises our awareness on where we want to go and exactly how we are going to get there. The first thing we have to do is start changing the way we think and speak so we can change our belief system or story that we tell ourselves.






sychologytoday.com explains affirmations as “a statement said with confidence about a perceived truth”. Affirmations help thousands of people make changes in their lives. Why can one person be successful with affirmations and for another it doesn't work?

It all comes down to believing that it can happen. When we consistently tell ourselves “I can't do that” or “I don't have enough money to buy that” we are using negative affirmations. What needs to be done is not only the way we think, but the way we speak.


When we think or do something over and over, it becomes a habit. Every experience, feeling and emotion lay in the subconscious mind whether we consciously remember it or not. When we constantly think something over and over, whether its good or bad, it becomes a habit or pattern.

Think of neural pathways in our brain like roads. When we create a habit, a new road is built that leads to our brain.

Just like a road will always lead you to the same place when we drive on it, so will the neural pathways in our brain when we think something. It will always lead us to the same story that we told ourselves in the past.

Sometimes the negative beliefs we have are deeply rooted into our subconscious mind so we have to work really hard at pulling those weeds from our garden and replacing them with brand new seed. So what we must do is put road blocks up on the old ones and build new roads. This is where affirmations come in.

Affirmations help re-train the brain to think and act differently. Once you begin to use affirmations, you build new roads or neural pathways in your brain which leads to shutting down the old ones.

How to Let Go of the Past and Forgive Someone That Hurt You


HOW TO FORGIVE PEOPLE THAT HURT YOU

Why do things happen? Why do bad things happen to good people? No one knows why there are good people that get sick or why the psychotic murderers gets to live... we never will either.
When we begin to look at struggles in our lives as lessons... and turn them into strength... it is easier to understand why things happen in our lives.

When we stop saying "why me?" and start thinking "what is the lesson" or find out how we can use the experience as a positive situation, we begin to open our mind and see the true meaning behind every experience.

Struggles in life were not created for us to be punished or to suffer, but the complete opposite. They are there to learn from and become successful and prosperous in life. They were meant for us to heal.

The Creator is NOT sitting next to Moses saying, "Hey Moses! Watch what I lay on Susie next!" as He elbows Moses in the arm and lets out a little giggle. NO! This is not how it works. The Creator wants nothing but greatness for each and every one of us and does not hand us anything that we cannot handle!

He knows that we are strong because He created us in His image. He knows our life from the day that we are born. I mean, we planned it with Him before we entered this world anyway, right?

I sometimes wonder what the hell I was thinking when I sat down and wrote my book of life with Him. Why would I write this life for me? Why would I choose the people that have come into my life?

 I was just 32 years young when I was diagnosed with a progressive and debilitating disease of the nervous system. (RSD/CRPS) I had two young children at the time. I went through the "Why me?" and felt sorry for myself because I was stuck in a wheel chair and felt that everyone else was supposed to take care of me.

But after I became sick and tired of being sick and tired, I started to see how I was my own worst enemy and I had a choice to make. I could sit there and feel sorry for myself and stay in that wheel chair, or I could change the way I was thinking and take my experiences and turn them into something positive.

And again...Not everyone has the option to get up physically out of that wheel chair, but there is a choice on how we think and what we do with our life experiences.

We could be a catalyst for change and become an inspiration for others that are experiencing the same things in life. No, they may not be the exact same experiences... but they all go back to the same thing which we all seek in life... which is happiness and love.

When we stop saying, "I just want to be the old me again" which I have said many times... We begin to see what new things are ready to come into our lives. They can only come into our lives if we make room and allow it to come into our lives. So how do we make room for the new? We release the old. Let go of what you feel you no longer can do or "the old you" and re-create your life with "the new you".

Stop looking and what you CAN NOT DO... and start looking at what YOU CAN DO!

 I pray that you will find the answers to the questions and release the negative emotions that lie deep and dormant within your subconscious mind. When we suppress emotions from experiences in our past and do not confront them and release them, they tend to come out in other physical, emotional or mental forms. This is where the 4 "F"s come into play...

1. Find it: If we don't know there is a problem, we won't fix it. We need to dig deep and find what is hindering us from moving forward in life as well as what keeps us encircling in the same negative patterns. So the first thing to do is "FIND" what the issue is.

2. Face it: Facing our fears face to face is not easy. It takes courage. But when we finally do come face to face with what ails us and remove the mask of the ego, we become aware of what is going on behind the scenes. When we start taking responsibility for our own actions, we are able to move forward to the next step which is FEEL IT.

3. Feel it : Feeling it comes after we are able to face what bothers us. Whether it be a person that has hurt you, a place that reminds you of something bad, or something that holds memories.. they must be released. When we are finally able to FEEL the emotions behind the mask, we are able to forgive those who have hurt us and true healing begins.

4. Free it: Forgiveness is the key. When we have completely forgiven those who have hurt us and release or "FREE" the emotion attached to the experience, we are "free" to live our passion and purpose in life which is what we enjoy and love to do.
